Due to a case submitted by a civilian, High Court has ordered to halt the Gulhifalhu reclamation project.
Maldives High Court has ordered to halt the Kaafu Atoll Gulhifalhu reclamation project.
Claiming that the project is proceeding in a manner that is not environmentally friendly, the complaint was submitted to the civil court by a civilian. Despite the appeal to halt the project until the case is concluded, Civil Court had ruled earlier that they cannot pass such an order.
However, the order issued by the High Court today notified to cease all works of the project until the case is closed by the Civil Court.
