A man has been arrested for allegedly being involved in the vandalism of the 'Juice Time' cafe in Hulhumalé.
The police said on Sunday night that one of the suspects, a 19-year-old man believed to be involved in the incident, was arrested under a court order.
They did not reveal any further details.
In the video circulating on social media, two men in helmets could be seen vandalising the cafe using iron bars. The CCTV footage shows the men entering the cafe by breaking the glass windows, and everything on the counter and the shelves were destroyed. The shopkeeper was not harmed and could be seen fleeing.
The incident took place on February 17.
The police are currently investigating the matter.
Following the attack, the police launched a new operation aimed at stopping and searching people who wear helmets in areas where they are not required by law.
