Action to be taken against tenants failing to pay rent for flats

The ministry said that it is investigating cases where units are being used for purposes other than those intended, are being illegally modified, or are being sublet.

The Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development has announced that it will take action against individuals who have rented flats from government housing projects but are failing to pay rent and are illegally subletting the units.

In a statement, the ministry highlighted that the government's housing policy and President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's pledge include a 20 percent reduction in rent for housing units in the Greater Malé area and various islands.
