The names of both Luwaiz and Dr Salma have now been sent to the Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee for review.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has sent two appointments for parliamentary approval.
These appointments are Mohamed Luwaiz as Maldives Amabassador to Singapore, and Dr Salma Rasheed as Permanent Representative of the Maldives Mission at Geneva.
Dr Rasheed is the aunt of former MP and current ruling party candidate for Maafannu Central constituency Asma Rasheed. The Ambassador to UAE appointed by President Dr Muizzu is also the nephew of Dr Rasheed, and son of Asma, Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu).
Mohamed Luwaiz, of Ma. Dhilaasaage, previously served as Minister of State for Economic Relations at the President's Office during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen.
During Yameen's administration, Luwaiz also served as a Board Member of Bank of Maldives.
In the transition period after the presidential election last year, Luwaiz worked in the Budget Committee compiled by President Dr Muizzu. He was also seen as an active participant in the campaign activities during President Dr Muizzu's running for the presidential seat.
