Ali Fulhu Thuthu Foundation (ATF) donated a PerkinElmer PCR machine to the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on Tuesday, to assist Maldives' response to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in the country.

The PCR machine was handed over at a special ceremony held at the hospital, with media sources estimating the PCR to have costed a whopping USD 940,000.

Ali Fulhu Thuthu Foundation is a Maldivian charity organization founded on November 23, 2000 in memory of late Moosa Ali by the conglomerates Champa brothers.

The foundation offers annual scholarships through the 'United World Colleges ' International Baccalaureate (IB) programme and has invested in various community projects including the development of water and sewerage systems across the country, and has supported over 400 projects in the social sector.

Maldives presently records a total of 5,909 confirmed and 2,389 active COVID-19 cases, along with 3,488 recoveries and 24 deaths.
