A football official has stated that FAM is close to heading towards a normalization and that it likely FIFA will change their minds about Maldives during the FIFA congress which will be held next Friday.
A knowledgeable official has revealed that the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) is close to heading towards a FIFA normalization.
A delegate consisting of FIFA and AFC representatives had visited Maldives last month and met some shareholders of the country's football. One of these parties include the football clubs who were excluded from the congress held earlier in February. During this meeting, clubs had appealed to take FAM to a normalization from the FIFA delegation.
An official who spoke to Mihaaru News stated that there is a high probability that FIFA may change their minds about Maldives during the FIFA congress slated to be held next Friday in Thailand.
An individual connected with both FIFA and AFC shared with Mihaaru News last night that he had assured both the international football organizations that he is prepared to provide any and all cooperation necessary from himself to set the Maldivian football scene straight.
"I have told them that that I will provide any and all cooperation required from me to set Maldives' football straight."
"Even if that is bringing [FAM] to a normalization and assisting people there in their day to day operations, I have informed that my cooperation is assured on that."
The Maldivian official set to represent the country during the congress held on Friday is the President of FAM, Bassam Adeel Jaleel. However, his passport has been withdrawn and overseas travel has been banned therefore, he is unable to physically take part in the congress.
Bassam's passport was held under a court order due to the ongoing investigation into the allegations that he has misused FAM's funds.
