The government, on Monday, announced the formation of a National Working Group to increase women's participation in information and communications technology (ICT) sectors.
According to the Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology, the seven-member working group will perform an advisory role concerning policymaking efforts regarding ICT as well as empowering women in the sector.

Applications are publicly open for ICT sections while representatives for the remaining four institutions will be chosen by Minister of Communications, Science and Technology Mohamed Maleeh Jamal.
While 50 percent of seats on the working group will be allocated for women, the communications ministry revealed that individuals involved in efforts to empower women in ICT would be prioritized.
Interested individuals can submit applications to the communications ministry prior to 1400 hrs on August 5. Application forms and other required documents can be presented physically or emailed to [email protected].
Increasing female participation in ICT sectors was among President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's electoral pledges.
