The Managing Director of Villa Group of Companies, Ibrahim Siyad Qasim has been released by the Criminal Court on Thursday evening.
He is the son of Qasim Ibrahim, current leader of the opposition Jumhooree Party.
Siyad, who is accused of bribing the former Chief of Justice Abdulla Saeed and former Supreme Court Judge Ali Hameed by allegedly purchasing flats, has been freed under a conditional release.
According to the Criminal Court, Siyad is temporarily restricted from travelling out of Male' and is required to inform the court of any changes made to his address and other contact information.
The release follows Siyad's recent hearing held in court on Thursday, when the state failed to present vital documents required as evidence against Siyad.
