Parliament moves to sack Supreme Court Judge Abdul Ghanee

Parliament on Wednesday, passed the motion to dismiss Supreme Court Judge Abdul Ghanee Mohamed from his position on the apex court bench.

As per the constitution, a judge can only be dismissed through a parliamentary vote based on a motion put forward by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC). The motion must be passed with a majority vote by one-third of the members present in the session.
