It has been reported that the labourers who published a video appeal for assistance due to hardship are employed by Indian company Renaatus who is widely engaged in the Maldives construction industry.
The labourers were brought to work on the Gan International Airport development project, which is being conducted through a USD 17 million (MVR 262 million) line of credit from India's EXIM Bank.
