State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has announced the completion of the installation work for the backup power plant in the Greater Malé area.
According to STELCO, this project marks the fastest commissioning of multiple engines in the company's history. The project was completed under the direct supervision of the Managing Director of STELCO Ahmed Shareef.
STELCO said that the newly installed power plant, with a guaranteed capacity of 20.2 megawatts, will ensure power security for the Greater Malé area.
The Greater Malé area has experienced record levels of electricity consumption, particularly due to increased temperatures during the dry season. During April, electricity usage in the Greater Malé area was recorded at over 102 megawatts.
