The Malé City Council announced on X that burials in the Hulhumalé cemetery have been suspended due to flooding caused by last week's heavy rains.
The council stated that the water level in the cemetery has risen to 8-9 inches, making it difficult to place coffins. As a result, the cemetery is temporarily unusable for burials.
