February's revenue 22.3 percent higher than projected

MIRA discloses statistics that reveal the state income produced in February this year exceeds projected revenue by 22.3 percent while this month's income also observed a 33.7 percent raise from last year's.

Statistics reveal that the state income generated by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) in February stands 22.3 percent higher than the formerly estimated number.

These Statistics disclosed by the Authority indicates that a total amount of MVR 2.33 billion was received during February this year of which additionally includes 100.34 million received in American Dollars.

MIRA asserted that this amount is 22.3 percent higher than the initially estimated number and shared that this year's income observed a 33.7 percent increase in comparison to February last year.

The Authority explained that this surge in income beyond the evaluated number last February is owed to the bank income taxes settled after deadlines, increased GST rate, as well as tourism land rents.

They further credited the number of tourist arrivals into the country exceeding expectations by four percent this year as a contributor to this revenue increase as well.

Within the income generated by MIRA last month, MVR 2.07 billion was received from citizen's tax settlements while 70.1 percent of the income was produced through GST.

Furthermore, 77.9 percent of the USD received by the Authority were through GST.
