HDC stated that reclamation of 15 out of the planned 63 hectares in Phase 3 has already been completed, adding that work is proceeding at optimum speed.
In October 2023, the first stage of reclamation in Hulhumale' Phase 3 was completed with 10 hectares of land reclaimed. Work on reclaiming the rest is currently ongoing.
The work was contracted by the previous government to Sri Lanka's Capital Marine and Civil Construction Company (CMCC), who are also tasked currently with reclamation work in Fushidhiggaru Falhu (RasMale').
HDC contracted the work to CMCC for MVR 259.2 million.
HDC has said earlier that the cost of the project will be settled through sale of a 10 hectare land in Hulhumale' and a 9.8 hectare land in Thilafushi.
Under this project, CMCC is also contracted with revetment work, construction of roads in Hulhumale' Phase 3 and building of jetties.
