Eligible applicants to receive land under the Binveriyaa scheme

A total of 15,164 applications were received for the Binveriyaa scheme. This includes 23,088 people who applied to the scheme through individual and joint applications. A total of 12,704 applications were deemed eligible for the scheme.

Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam has announced that the government will provide land to all eligible applicants of the Binveriyaa scheme, a housing initiative implemented by the government.

During the press conference held in the President's Office yesterday to announce the beneficiaries of the Binveriyaa scheme, Minister Aslam said that the list announced is a temporary list.

"The list will shows individuals who have applied for the scheme, along with the number of applications received. The President had previously announced the allocation of 5,000 plots of land. The current list will reveal the beneficiaries who have been granted these plots of land. The portal will also indicate those who were disqualified," Minister Aslam said.

The Minister said that allocation of 5,000 plots of land, as previously announced, will be granted first. He further said that a total of 15,164 forms were submitted, including both individual and joint applicants, resulting in a total of 23,088 individuals applying for the scheme. Among these applications, 12,794 were deemed eligible.

The Minister confirmed that the current list of beneficiaries consists of 19,857 individuals. The list published in the Maldives gazette includes 10,314 individuals who will be granted plots of land.

Minister Aslam announced that apart from the beneficiaries of the initial 5,000 plots of land, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has made the decision to grant land to all eligible applications submitted to the Binveriyaa scheme. This decision was reached during a special Cabinet meeting. The government's policy is to keep the list live and proceed with the necessary steps to fulfill the land grants for all eligible applicants.

Minister Aslam emphasized the government's comprehensive housing policy, which aims to alleviate the challenges faced by the citizens of Malé and those living in the capital city. He further highlighted the importance of nationwide development as the ultimate solution to address housing needs across the Maldives.
