Urbanco concludes large-scale Hulhumalé clean-up project

Urbanco has cleaned up the roads, streets and public venues of Hulhumalé with the assistance of 3,000 volunteers.

Urbanco announced that the clean-up initiative in Hulhumalé was conducted in commemoration of World Environment Day as part of their "Duniye Magey" (My World) campaign. The company added that the event was a success.

The clean-up initiative in Hulhumalé began on Saturday, June 10, at 07:30 a.m. and continued until 10:30 a.m. with the participation of over 3,000 volunteers from government ministries, corporations, and schools.

Urbanco stated that Coca-Cola Company, Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO), Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), Maldivian Red Crescent (MRC), Buruzu Catering, Veligaa Hardware, and Maldives Ocean Plastics Alliance (MOPA) had provided their assistance during the event. The company added that the event also saw the participation of Maldives Vice President Faisal Naseem.

Participants were divided into seven groups and assigned to different locations in Hulhumalé for the clean-up, which covered key locations in both Hulhumalé 1 and 2.

Urbanco launched the "Duniye Magey" campaign to raise awareness about global environmental change and its impact. The campaign includes a series of activities planned for the entire year to promote environmental preservation and protection, said Urbanco.
