Hulhumalé Hospital will be opening a clinic near the Hiyaa Flats, and service is set to commence on Monday. This is the first time a state-initiated healthcare service is being provided in Hulhumalé Phase 2.
The facility named ‘GP Clinic’ is located in tower H16 of the flats.
An official from the clinic said that the outlet will expand its services to include vaccinations for children, small surgeries, and other medical areas. General consultation and waiting areas, an in-house laboratory investigation, and a pharmacy run by the State Trading Organisation (STO) are part of the initial phase, the official said.
A public health unit and nursing procedures are scheduled to commence once the expansion of the clinic is completed.
Hulhumalé Hospital said there has been an increase in the demand for services in the past two weeks, especially for OPD services, which has caused difficulties in its overall operations.
The clinic was opened to ease the workload, and distribute general OPD services to Phase 2 for easier accessibility. The hospital’s extension will operate from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on workdays.
