Police have released the man who was taken into custody for allegedly assaulting a woman in a house on Tuesday.
The man was arrested on Monday, when police entered a house in Male’, over suspected domestic violence. However, the woman involved in this case had not cooperated with the police, leading to the release of the man under police custody.
As they did not have sufficient information to carry on the investigation, they had to release the suspect. However the case has now been filed.
The police did not disclose how the couple from this case is involved with each other. It is rare to see significant progress in domestic abuse cases in families.
The usual practice in such cases is to keep both parties under police custody for up to four hours where their statements will be taken separately, before an arrest is made if deemed necessary.
