Housing Development Corporation's (HDC) current Managing Director Suhail Ahmed expects retirement.

HDC confirms Mr. Ahmed will retire effective on August 25, Thursday in accordance with the retirement policy of the corporation.

Mr. Ahmed is retiring from the state-owned enterprise at the age of 55.

Meanwhile, HDC's Deputy Managing Director Ahmed Athif will take helm of the corporation.

Mr. Ahmed who had previously filled the Managing Director role of HDC during President Yameen's administration was re-appointed for the position on December 30, 2018 at the beginning of President Solih's administration.

The outgoing HDC Managing Director had served in the corporation for 21 years. He had previously filled the company's Deputy Managing Director, Director of Planning and Estate positions.

Mr. Ahmed, who first joined public sector employment at the age of 19 first joined Housing Development Corporation in 2001. He had been a prominent HDC employee when the first phase of Hulhumale' settlement commenced.
