The Maldivian government has condemned the terrorist group Houthis' refusal to implement the ceasefire agreement, regarding their fight against the Yemeni state.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday that the Houthi's rejection of the peace agreement reached by the Yemeni ambassador appointed by the United Nation's Secretary General is unacceptable.
"Maldives condemns the Houthi terrorist group's refusal to maintain the peace agreement proposed by Hans Grandberg, the special envoy appointed for Yemen by UN Secretary General ," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The statement also said Maldives supports the political solution that would bring peace to Yemen, as recommended by UN and the Gulf Initiative.
It also expressed support for the efforts made by Saudi Arabia to reach peace in Yemen.
A civil war broke out in 2014 between the Yemeni government and Houthi militants working to establish a separate government in the country. Over 233,000 people have been killed in this war while millions have been displaced.
