Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, on Tuesday, contracted the landscaping projects for Hithadhoo, Addu Atoll and Thinadhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll to the Road Development Corporation (RDC).

The contract was signed by Deputy Minister Mohamed Haalis Shareef and RDC Senior Manager Hassan Yasir.

The MVR 5.3 million project in Hithadhoo will involve landscaping work for 264 housing units and is scheduled for completion within six months. The Thinadhoo project, allocated MVR 4.7 million, will involve landscaping work for 120 housing units in Thinadhoo. As per the agreement, RDC must complete the project within a four-month period.

Additionally, RDC will also develop children's parks as part of both landscaping projects.

Speaking at the function, the deputy minister apologised for delays in the project. He stated that the delays arose as funds for the project were not allocated under the 2019 State Budget.

Furthermore, the deputy minister stated that the projects were intended to create a pleasant environment ideal for families. Following the completion of the project, Haalis stated that each household would have a private plot of soil for plants.
