The decision to appoint Hisaan as MDP's Vice President was made during last night's MDP National Council meeting with 40 members who attended voting in favor of her appointment.
Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has approved the appointment of former Thulhaadhoo MP Hisaan Hussain as the party's Vice President.
The decision was made with 40 members who attended last night's MDP National Council meeting voting in favor of her appointment.
The proposal to appoint Hisaan, a lawyer by profession, as the party's VP was submitted by MDP President Abdulla Shahid. Highlighting the lack of women in MDP leadership, Shahid emphasized that Hisaan was the most suitable candidate for the position.
Hisaan had been serving as the Legal Director of MDP. She also chaired the Parliament's Judiciary Committee and the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) during the 19th Parliament.
Hisaan resigned from her post as the party's Legal Director on Wednesday to assume her new role as MDP's Vice President.
