Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla and Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed, visited the family of murdered journalist Ahmed Rilwan, on Wednesday.

According to the institution, Commissioner Hameed requested Parliament to arrange a meeting with its Committee on Security Services in relation to the findings of the Presidential Commission on Murders and Enforced Disappearances.
The visit was joined by Rilwan's mother Aminath Easa and sister Fathimath Shehenaz.
The Home Ministry extended its guarantee to ensure justice for Rilwan.
A summary of the commission's draft report on its investigation revealed that Rilwan's murder resulted from a clash between certain liberals and an extremist group, the latter reportedly being an affiliate of the militant multi-national extremist organization, al-Qaeda.
Rilwan was abducted near his apartment in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale', and forced into a red car. According to Husnu al-Suood, the commission's president, the journalist was transferred to a dinghy and then killed aboard another marine vessel.
The commission's report further disclosed that two officers working in police intelligence, Mohamed Jinah and Ibrahim Riffath, tapped Rilwan's phone calls from April 24, 2014 to July 21, 2014.
Rilwan is missing since August 8, 2014. His friend and prominent satirical blogger Yameen Rasheed was also brutally murdered on April 23, 2017.
