Fenaka Corporation has successfully restored the water supply in Addu City after a three-day disruption that affected Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo, and Feydhoo. The interruption began last Thursday due to technical issues.

In an effort to resolve the issue, spare parts, specifically a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), were transported to Addu City on Friday for installation. However, complications arose during the process, leading the Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) to dispatch an engineer with another VFD drive.

Muaz Mohamed Rasheed, Fenaka Corporation's managing director, informed Mihaaru News that the issue was resolved and water supply resumed to the islands yesterday. He highlighted the seriousness of the situation, referring to a utility authority report from the previous year that identified a "high risk" in supplying water to Addu, emphasizing the consequences of neglecting routine maintenance.

In a statement, Fenaka said that the service suspension resulted from the incomplete repairs mandated by law, with outstanding issues flagged by the utility authority yet to be addressed.

Fenaka also said that services were interrupted shortly after the problem arose due to a lack of proper storage facilities. Efforts have been made to ensure that the issue does not recur, and establish adequate storage facilities.
