An Indian Coast Guard helicopter has crashed in the Arabian Sea on Monday night during an emergency landing for the evacuation of an injured crew member on an Indian vessel.

The helicopter is an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), the same model that has been gifted to the Maldives by the Indian government.

In the crash that occurred at around 23:00 hrs, three army personnel went missing. During searches, the Coast Guard has since recovered the bodies of two of these army officers.

The searches were conducted by four Coast Guard vessels and two aircrafts. In addition to locating bodies of two of the missing personnel, the search also found wreckage from the helicopter.

One individual was rescued after being discovered alongside the wreckage.

This helicopter has been part of many rescue missions, including the recent rescue in a vessel caught in cyclonic weather in the Arabian Sea where they saved the lives of 67 people.
