Himmafushi Council has bestowed prizes to the winners of their annual Quran Compeition held each Ramadan with a trip to Umrah gifted to the first place winner. This year, the Council had also organized an Azan Recitation Competition with cash price awards.
Winner of the Quran Competition held by Kaafu atoll Himmafushi Island Council each Ramadan has been selected and results have been revealed.
This competition was extended for the island of Himmafushi and saw the participation of 140 young children. First place in the Quran competition was won by Thakmeen Hussain of Finvilaage, Himmafushi. In addition to Quran, the Council had also organized an Azan Competition this year which saw the participation of 40 students. Thakmeen had remarkably achieved first rank in the Azan Competition as well.
Thakmeen was offered a gift by the Council, a trophy, a commemorative certificate and an Umrah trip to commend his achievement. A gift of MVR 5000 by the Managing Director of Maldives Hajj Corporation, Mohamed Shakeel and Deputy Managing Director of the Corporation, Mohamed Shihab was also offered to him in addition to MVR 2000 from the Director at Donad Investments Limited, Shaheen Adam and MVR 500 from Pics in Marine.
The second place winner of the competition was Ra'ad Inth Ahmed Habeeb of Mala, Himmafushi. The prizes presented to him included MVR 12,000 gifted by the Island Council, MVR 3000 from the Managing Director of Maldives Hajj Corporation, Mohamed Shakeel and Deputy Managing Director of the Corporation, Mohamed Shihab as well as MVR 1500 from the Director of Donad Investments Limited, Shaheen Adam and MVR 400 from Pics in Marine.
Mohamed Ayan Hussain from Beach Villa had triumphed third place in the tournament. He was offered MVR 7,000 from the Island Council, MVR 2000 by the Managing Director of Maldives Hajj Corporation, Mohamed Shakeel and Deputy Managing Director of the Corporation as well as MVR 1000 from the Director at Donad Investments Limited, Shaheen Adam and MVR 350 from Pics in Marine.
Thakmeen had further recieved another trophy, a commemorative certificate and MVR 3000 gifted from the Council as prizes for winning the Azan Competition.

This competition had announced winners from the under 18 age groups as well as adults of over 18 years that participated in the competition.
President of the Himmafushi Council, Hassan Faiz stated that organizing the competition each year is for the purpose of increasing people who holds love for Quran in the island while reviving and preserving Quran and its recitation within the island. He further added that the Azan Competitions were begun in order to create a love for prayers in the hearts of little children.
