State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has received 659 phone calls and 6,135 messages after opening the window for submitting complaints regarding increases in electricity bills this month.

Many people have expressed concerns on social media about unusually high electricity bills. Yesterday, the company requested that complaints regarding this matter be submitted.

STELCO said in a message to medias that it had received 659 phone calls regarding electricity bills in the last two days. The company assured that all calls had been attended to.

They added that they had also received 6,135 messages via Viber, WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, and the STELCO website.

“As stated previously, the company is working towards responding to customer complaints within a maximum of 24 hours," STELCO said.

Complaints regarding electricity bills can be submitted to the company's customer service number 7788438 via WhatsApp or Telegram. Complaints can also be submitted via email at [email protected].

According to STELCO, bills may see an increase during hot weather. However, the company assured that customers are not billed for more than their actual usage, and they can view their billable amount before bills are sent.

Since it's the rainy season, many have questioned the reason behind this month's increase in electricity bills. However, the company explained that before the rainy season began, there was a period of hot weather included in the billing period, which could have contributed to the increase in the bill amount.
