Road Development Corporation (RDC) is preparing to lay asphalt on Ameenee Magu from State Electric Company’s (STELCO) headquarters up to Billabong High International from Thursday, May 25.
Unlike previous road development work done on Ameenee Magu where Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) was subcontracted, the Road Development Corporation (RDC) will be undertaking the asphalt laying work independently. To facilitate this, the Maldives government has provided land in Hulhumalé for RDC to set up their tar machine.
RDC has already completed all the necessary groundwork beneath the road surface, including the sub-base leveling, in preparation for the upcoming asphalt laying work.
The Maldives government has allocated MVR 84 million for the Ameenee Magu road redevelopment initiative. The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has stated that the project is expected to be completed by September 2023.
