Newly appointed High Commissioner to India Dr Hussain Niyaaz, on Saturday, presented his letter of credence to the President of India Ram Nath Kovind.
During the virtual ceremony held in light of the ongoing pandemic, the President of India congratulated the High Commissioner on his appointment, and further conveyed good wishes to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the people of Maldives.

High Commissioner Dr Niyaaz expressed sincere appreciation for the continued assistance from India towards the socio-economic development of Maldives,
Highlighting the solidarity shown during the pandemic response, the HC remarked that such instances of cooperation define the close bonds between the neighbours as they commemorate the 55th anniversary since officially establishing diplomatic ties.
The HC was accompanied by First Secretary Ahmed Suzil and Defence Advisor Colonel Ahmed Thohir.
