Covid-19 fatalities in Maldives have reached 300 in Maldives on Sunday.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) said a 66 year old Maldivian man being treated for Covid in Orange Facility in Hulhumale’ passed away today. The most recent Covid death prior to this was on May 26. A 71 year old Maldivian man had passed away in Addu.
Covid cases in Maldives are rising once again after being well controlled for several months. HPA has urged the public to take precautionary measures as well.
The covid mortalities are now higher than previous diseases Maldives had had to deal with in the past. A total of 197 people died through the Shigella infection while by the time cholera was controlled, 252 people had died.
HPA has said Maldives recorded 142 cases of Covid-19 last week. This is a 69 percent increase from the previous week.
In addition to COVID-19, other common diseases have also been on the rise in the Maldives. There has also been an increase in the number of cases of dengue, viral fever, flu and flu. A child had died of dengue this year.
