Over 300,000 people have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccines in Maldives as of Tuesday.
According to the statistics released by Health Protection Agency (HPA), 376,630 people have received one dose of the COVID vaccine while 300,064 people have been fully vaccinated.
Maldives has an estimated population of 500,000. In addition to vaccinating people above the age of 18, Maldives started to inoculate children between the ages of 12 and 17 on August 15 as well.

Children are provided the Pfizer vaccine while adults are given either the AstraZeneca or Covishield or Sinopharm. AstraZeneca and Covishield, while manufatured in different nations, use the same formula.
Maldives aims to innoculate 90 percent of its eligible population before August is over. According to the government, 84 percent has already been fully inoculated.
The government is providing ease in ensuring easier access to various services to people that have completed two doses of the vaccine. Usually this is applicable two weeks after receiving the second dose.
