President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed Mariyam Khalida as a Deputy Minister of Health on December 20.
Khalida, from capital Male', is the chairman of the board formed to counsel the Ministry of Economic Development on salaries and minimum wage.
She had also served as executive director of the Financial and Consumer Services at the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
Mariyam Khalida is the spouse of Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor.
With her appointment, there are four deputy ministers currently serving at the health ministry.
The monthly remuneration of deputy ministers is MVR 35,500, comprising MVR 20,500 as salary and MVR 15,000 as allowances.
