COVID-19 death toll rises to 124

Health Protection Agency (HPA) have announced on Sunday the 124th COVID-19 fatality in Maldives.

Over the weekend, an five people had passed away as well in addition to the three people who's death HPA announced on Friday morning.

The recent deaths were all people that had been admitted in Hulhumale' Medical Facilty.

The 124th COVID death was a 66 year old Maldivian man that had passed away at 0807hrs.

On Saturday, a 48 year old Maldivian man had passed away ay 1202hrs, while a 59 year old Maldivian man had passed away at 1615hrs. A 39 year old Maldivian woman had passed away at 2025hrs. They were the 121st, 122nd, and 123rd COVID-19 deaths in Maldives respectively.

HPA said a 56 year old man had passed away at 1545hrs on Friday while a 57 year old Maldivian woman had passed away at 1946hrs. They were the 119th and 120th COVID fatalities.

So far, 51 people have died from COVID-19 this month. This is 41.13 percent of the total deaths in Maldives due to COVID so far. At the beginning of May, the death toll was at 73.

With an additional 1,960 people that HPA had announced were COVID positive on Saturday, the total number of people that have been confirmed to have COVID has reached 54,365. There are 22,421 active cases at the moment.

Currently, 70 islands are being monitored due to active COVID cases.

However, 31,812 people have recovered from COVID-19 as well.
