Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has announced that a decision has been made to provide financial assistance to religious and social NGOs running religious programs in various locations across the country.

The Minister made these comments at the annual meeting of religious and social organizations.
Making this announcement, the Minister added that an agreement for this would be made during the meeting ongoing at the Islamic Center.
"I assure you that in future, the Ministry will provide financial assistance as well towards various efforts by NGOs as far as possible," Shaheem said.
The Minister said that funds will be extended for programs where they teach how to pray salat, and other smaller projects.
The Minister said that Islamic education can best be spread in the country through collaboration between the Ministry and NGOs.
The ministry said that the ongoing annual meeting had 98 participants representing 70 organizations. These include participants who attended in person, as well as online.
