National airline 'Maldivian' concluded preparations on Wednesday to schedule direct flights from Hanimaadhoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll, to Cochin, India.
Maldivian stated that final preparatory phases to schedule the flights are currently underway, and estimated that flights will begin travel between Hanimaadhoo and Cochin within the next month. They added that the flight schedule will be announced.
According to Maldivian, this arrangement was made in order to ease transport for locals travelling to India for medical treatment, and to provide better access to Maldives for the high influx of Indian tourists. Maldivian currently schedules flights from Hanimaadhoo to Trivandrum, India.
The airline also revealed preparations are underway to schedule flights to more cities in India.
Furthermore, Maldivian stated that it is working to arrange flight travel to Colombo in Sri Lanka.
Maldivian flights operate to several destinations including Thailand, India, Bangladesh and China.
