Housing Development Corporation's (HDC) smart city brand, "Smart Com" organized a special study tour for O'Level standard students majoring in Computer Science.
The special study tour is aimed at raising awareness and improve knowledge of students towards practical use of technological innovation in urban development. Additionally, students were provided with the opportunity to observe the development of the smart city initiative; integrating digital solutions to urban development.
Moreover, the study tour aimed to increase interest among Computer Science students in digital transformation, and information technology innovation.
Smart Com is commemorating one year since it launched the Smart City Initiative.
A group of 20 students from four schools of Hulhumale' including Rehendhi School, Ghaazee School, Huravee School and Brightway International School participated in the tour.
During the tour, Smart Com held a special presentation highlighting the services and innovations led by the company under the Smart City initiative. In addition to this, students toured Hulhumale' Central Park along with Smart Com representatives. The students observed smart-poles and benches installed at the park, as well as the telecom towers installed by HDC.
Moreover, students were provided information about the open access network initiative launched by HDC, which fall under the Smart City initiative. Students observed the works carried by Smart Com's network operations center.
Students also observed the ONT connections provided to Hulhumale' residences and businesses during their tour.
HDC launched its Smart Com brand on December 12, 2021 with the aim of complete digital integration of Hulhumale', enabling people to utilize technology to make their lives easier.
