Salahuddin School, which opened in Hulhumale' Phase 2 last year, began its operations with education for grades 1 through 9. Similarly, Izzudheen School, established in 2020, had initially opened with education offered for six grades, from grade 1 through grade 6.
Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development had revealed today that students of these school will sit for the O Level examinations this year.
While Salahuddin School commenced education for the new academic year last Sunday with the newly implemented two sessions, the school has also extended begun teaching students in grade 10 with 75 total students this year.
Principal of Izzudheen School, Naadhira Hassan stated that the students who were in grade 6 when the school opened four years ago, will study in grade 10 this year.
She added that the school will have one class in grade 10 this year with a total of 18 students set to be taught both science and commerce streams.
Ministry of Education has said that schools across Maldives began the new academic school term with 96,000 students, including 40,300 girls and 42,700 boys.
The Ministry said that 83,000 students are enrolled in 217 government schools, out of which about 17,000 are in Male' area schools. Over 13,000 students are enrolled in private schools from lower kindergarten to Grade 12. Of these, more than 9000 are in the Male' area.
