Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen said today that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu places special priority on the development of the aviation sector in the Maldives.

Speaking at the ceremony marking the first anniversary of Maldives' premium airline, Beond, Minister Ameen highlighted the government's commitment to supporting airlines like Beond in expanding their services.

"I hope Beond will play a key role in developing the Maldives' aviation sector and expanding operations to position the country as an aviation hub. The government will provide all necessary support for the airline’s growth," the minister stated.

He also said that the Maldives, as one of the world’s top premium tourism destinations, benefits from an airline like Beond being closely associated with the Maldives brand. This, he added, presents opportunities to further expand tourism and attract more visitors to the country.

Minister Saeed reiterated the significance of Beond for Maldives, particularly as a luxury tourist destination. He reaffirmed the government’s objective to boost tourist arrivals and assured that companies like Beond would be protected under the Foreign Direct Investment Act.

Beond, launched by SIMDI Group in partnership with the UAE’s Arabesque, began operations with an Airbus A13. The airline's second aircraft, an Airbus A321 with 68 seats, was brought into service today.

Currently, Beond flies to five destinations.
