Parliamentary committee signs off on bill to restrict protests in capital

A parliamentary committee on Monday signed off a bill which looks to severely restrict protests in the capital Male, hours after the government controlled parliament accepted the the amendment to the assembly act.

A parliamentary committee on Monday signed off a bill which looks to severely restrict protests in the capital Male, hours after the government controlled parliament accepted the the amendment to the assembly act.

During the parliament sitting earlier Monday, the amendment was accepted with 39 lawmakers voting in favour out of the 61 present.
