State declares "India Out" campaign pose threat to national security

The National Security Council on Wednesday evening declared that the opposition-led "India Out" campaign posed serious threats to the Maldivian national security.

Meanwhile, Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday, , published an official declaration echoing the council's statement.

According to the Maldivian head of state, the opposition-led campaign has reached a point of posing threats to the safety and security of the island nation.

Moreover, Solih claimed that the campaign was affecting the peace, harmony and even sovereignty of the country while the Maldivian domestic affairs were depleting gradually.

In the declaration, the president asserted on state's responsibility of curtailing any efforts that may lead towards endangering the sovereignty of the country.

The president has used his presidential authority under the under s.115 (3), (4) and (10) of the Maldives Constitution, in ordering all relevant authorities to ensure effective curtailing of opposition-led "India Out" campaign.
