The Maldives government has pushed back its national handicraft exhibition “Expo Maldives” from December to next year March.

The exhibition had already been postponed earlier in October from its original schedule of commencing in November to December this year.

In a statement Tuesday announcing the postponement, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said that application forms to participate in the expo will also be accepted past the previous deadline of November 17. Accordingly, the ministry urged interested exhibitors to continue application submissions, which are accepted at the ministry, island councils and ministerial centres of atolls.

Assuring that participants that have already submitted their applications need not apply again, the ministry stated that the new deadline for applications will be announced later.

Awards will be given out for first, second and third place winners from each category of Expo Maldives this year as well. The government will also award its Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) loan to the top five overall winners of the exhibition.
