Fathuhu Hajj and Umra group, a local travel agency specialising in pilgrimage travel, is facing a lawsuit over the payments it took from 72 people who were not sent on their pilgrimage.
In 2014, the government had assigned a quota of 125 pilgrims to the company. However, the group failed to send any of the individuals on Hajj to Saudi Arabia, and the 125 pilgrims were finally sent under state-expenses.
Furthermore, the Fathuhu Hajj group had failed to send an additional 72 people on their pilgrimage, despite taking their payments.
Upon the request of various individuals amongst the 72, the lawsuit was filed by Litica Law Associates. The company took up the case pro bono, charging a minor fee as administrative costs.
Fathuhu Hajj group's owner Mustafa Mohamed was earlier charged in relation to the case, but the Criminal Court had ruled in his favour.
