The deadline for applications for land and flats in Greater Male' region has been extended to next month.
The Planning Ministry announced that it has extended the deadline for applications for 3,000 land plots in Gulhifalhu and 4,000 flats in Hulhumale' until October 15.
Previously under the "Binveriyaa" land scheme was that people who have never been registered anywhere other than Male' are considered to be residents of the city.
However, a later amendment said that even if a person was previously registered elsewhere due to a rule or regulation laid down by the government, if the person’s mother or father is a resident of Male' and if they are currently residing in Male', they would be considered a resident of Male'.
According to the Planning Ministry more than 10,000 people have applied for land and flats through the ministry's housing portal.
