President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Thursday morning, appointed Dr Farahnaz Faisal as Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Thilmeeza Hussain as Ambassador to the United States of America.
The letters of appointment were presented to the new ambassadors at a ceremony held in President's Office.
Prior to her ambassador post, Thilmeeza Hussain, who achieved her Master of Science in Business Management at the Colorado Technical University, USA, served as Adjunct Professor of Sustainability at the Ramapo College, New Jersey.
Thilmeeza was also appointed as Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) from Maldives.
She had previously served as the Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Maldives to UN, and also held the post of Non-Resident Deputy Ambassador to the USA and Canada.
Farahnaz Faisal served as the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. She also filled the post of Non-Resident Ambassador to Denmark, Finland, France, Norway, Spain and Sweden. Dr Farahnaz attained her PhD in Politics from the University of Hull, UK.
Additionally, she was the Co-Chair of Socially and Economically Just Adaptation and Mitigation Team at the United States Climate Action Network.
