Phase 1 of Gulhi Falhu reclamation will be completed in a month: Dr Muththalib

Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib has stated today that 127.9 hectares of land has been reclaimed in Gulhi Falhu to date.

Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib has stated today that 127.9 hectares of land has been reclaimed in Gulhi Falhu to date.

The Minister further said that the current reclamation project undertaken by Boskalis will reach completion within the next month.

"After that, work will commence on the 85 hectares that was announced by the President. That is not included in the ongoing contract, hence we will undertake all the necessary preparations for work to commence on the next phase of land reclamation after the work under the current contract reaches completion," the Minister said.

The Minister also announced that work to place rock boulder groynes in the areas being reclaimed will also commence next month and will be completed within a period of six months.

He said that land reclamation and shore protection will be completed, and Afcons will be contracted within the year to begin construction of the road necessary for connection with the ThilaMale' Bridge.
