Judge Faruhad elected as lower court representative in JSC

Civil Court Judge Faruhad Rasheed has today won the election for a lower court representative in the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Civil Court Judge Faruhad Rasheed has today won the election for a lower court representative in the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

The elections were held following the end of former lower court representative Chief Magistrate Ali Shareef's term.

The election was held by the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) today.

Faruhad, longest serving judge at the Civil Court, won the election with 91 votes. The closest contender was Criminal Court Judge Ibrahim Ihusan, who received 71 votes.

Faruhad is also the Spokesperson of the Judges' Association. He has served as a Civil Court Judge for 11 consecutive years, with over 20 years experience in the judicial sector.

Five Judges competed in today's election. The breakdown of votes are as follows;

1. Criminal Court Judge Ibrahim Ihusan - 71 votes

2. Civil Court Judge Azfa Abdul Ghafoor - 0 votes

3. Civil Court Judge Faruhad Rasheed - 91 votes

4. Family Court Judge Abdulla Mohamed - 1 vote

5. Addu Hithadhoo Magistrate Court Magistrate Rafeeuddin Ahmed - 0 votes

Out of the five, Family Court Judge Abdulla Mohamed has served in the judicial sector for the longest period. He has previously worked as a Criminal Court Judge, and as Chief Judge.
