Veteran journalist Adam Haleem (Mundoo) has been appointed as Chief of Staff at the official residence of Parliamentary Speaker, Muraidhoo since 28th July, 2024..

Communication Director of the Parliament Hassan Ziyau said that Haleem's appointment falls within the discretion of the Speaker; a position which is currently held by Abdul Raheem Abdulla.

Haleem, who is from Laamu atoll's Mundoo island just like Speaker Abdul Raheem, served in the media for over 20 years, since his entry into the field via 'Aafathis' news. Since then, he has also worked in 'Haveeru', and held the capacity of an editor at 'Sun', 'VNews', and 'Avas'.

Recently Haleem, who received the general service award and golden pen award in the field of journalism, has also created his own start up news platform branded 'The Mirror'.

Speaker Abdul Raheem moved into Muraidhoo on 26th July, following renovations.

The building was designated as the official residence of Parliamentary Speakers due to security reasons following the assassination attempt of former President and Speaker Mohamed Nasheed on May 6th, 2021.

Although Nasheed resided in Muraidhoo following the attack, MP of north Hithadhoo constituency, Mohamed Aslam, who succeeded Nasheed did not move into the residence.
