A total of 60 employees from Faafu Atoll Filitolhu Island Resort have signed up to participate in the world record-breaking free dive event. This event is organized by Free Dive Maldives.

Officials from Free Dive Maldives are currently training the staff of Filitheyo Resort for the event. An official from Free Dive Maldives said that they were surprised to see a large number of employees from the same resort participating in the event.

"We did not think so many employees would participate from the resort. The resort showed great enthusiasm. This is a great delight," the official said.

Officials from Free Dive Maldives will travel to Sun Island Resort today.

Free Dive Maldives said that the event, named "Neyvaa 2", was dedicated to resort employees as it was being held to mark the 50th anniversary of Maldivian tourism. Free Dive Maldives is scheduled to travel to all resorts to train all employees taking part in the event.

The public will also be able to participate

The public will also be able to participate in the second world record of Free Dive Maldives. Registration for the public will be opened next month. Registrants will undergo breathing tests and those in good condition will be able to participate in the event, according to Dive Maldives. The free dive event for the public will be held at Cross Roads.

The event, 'Neyvaa 2' will be held to set a new world record as ‘most people performing static apnea simultaneously’. Static apnea is a discipline in which a person holds their breath underwater for as long as possible while floating on the surface of the water. Participants of this event will have to hold their breath underwater for two minutes.

An event previously held by Free Dive Maldives is listed in the Guineas Book of World Records. The event "Neyvaa", was held in 2019 with the highest number of people diving at the same time. A total of 521 people participated in the event. It is the largest ever diving event in the world.
