President Muizzu said that exploiting an individual's wrongdoing by recording it to shame those involved is morally and socially unacceptable.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said today that exploiting a person's offence by videoing it to humiliate people should not be tolerated.
The President's remarks come in the wake of an incident where Henveiru South MP-elect Hussain Imran Latheef recorded an incident involving a pickup colliding with former Home Minister Imran Abdullah's car. The member-elect had also made comments during the incident.
A video circulating on social media shows the People's National Congress (PNC) MP-elect asking the former Minister to forgive the pickup truck driver involved in the incident, leading to public criticism of the newly elected member.

Some say that if there is an accident on the road, it should be investigated through the police and additional parties should not be involved in the incident.
President Muizzu said that exploiting an individual's wrongdoing by recording it to shame those involved is morally and socially unacceptable.
He added that the law stipulates the conduct against individuals who commit an offence.
"Relevant authorities and a legal framework are in place to address such matters. Deviating from religious and social norms and resorting to vigilante justice only impedes our efforts to foster a society free from the culture of revenge," he said. "Shouldn't we strive to build a community characterized by compassion, empathy and responsibility?"
