Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Sunday, began a survey to identify solutions to digitally connect Maldivian ports.
The purpose of the research is to identify opportunities to bridge both businessmen and relevant state institutions on a single platform and facilitate the implementation of a port community system (PCS) in the near future.
The three-day survey is conducted by an expert team from the Mitsubishi Research Institute (MRI). The group will assess the current status of the ports by questioning port staff, businessmen and state officials as part of the study.
According to MRI, the organization has already received multiple survey responses.
Maldives Port Limited (MPL)'s Database Engineer Ilyas Mohamed stated that it was likely that ADB would provide financial assistance to develop PCS after the survey, adding that such a system would make port services more efficient.
ADB is currently conducting the survey in a number of South Asian countries, including India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
